9/18/23: The Kewpie Kooldown: Kris Solsberg Invite

This weekend the Kewpies of Hickman High School went to Lee’s Summit, Missouri to compete at Lee’s Summit North High School in the Kris Solsberg Invite. While there the Kewpies had a great meet placing well as a team and individually amongst the seventeen teams that attended. Lets talk about how Hickman teams faired amongst the competition, in this meet to medal individually you had to place top twenty. At this meet there was six different races there was Boy’s and Girls Varsity, JV, and a C team races. In the Girl’s Varsity race, Hickman placed tenth and they had one medalist, junior Ellie Eastman who placed fourteenth and ran 20:21.40. In the Girl’s JV race, Hickman had two runners in the race, freshman Amelia Coy and junior Bella Domeier who both ran very well. In the C race, Hickman had no runners racing. In the first Boy’s race, the Boy’s Varsity race, Hickman placed fifth and had two medalists, junior Max Hogan, who placed ninth in a time of 16:22.10, and senior Sean Keys, who placed 18th and ran 16:49.60. Moving on to the JV Boy’s race, Hickman had a great race placing fourth and they had one of the smallest 1-5 runners gap of only 55 seconds. In this race Hickman had two medalists, those being sophomore Nick Current, who placed seventh and ran a time of 18:19.20, and the other medalist was freshman George Nichols who placed twelfth and ran a time of 18:28.60. In the final race of the whole competition, the C Boy’s 5k, Hickman had another great performance placing 3rd and they had the smallest 1-5 runners gap with a time of 59 seconds. In this race Hickman had three medalists, junior Zeke Lee, who placed seventh and ran 19:45.70, another junior Yule Yoon placed tenth and ran 20:01.70, and the final medalist was freshman Kylan Craig who placed 16th and ran 20:11.70.
