Yesterday, in the women’s 400m hurdles final, Femke Bol won her first World title, after missing out on one in the mixed 4x400m relay where she fell and lost the lead. Bol, ran an amazing race and won by 1.1 seconds over the American, Shamier Little. Bol, in the feature will be a huge threat to Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone, when Mclaughlin-Levrone becomes healthy.
Hoppel becomes sole American to qualify for Final
Yesterday, In the men’s 800m semifinals, Bryce Hoppel, the sole American to make it out of the first round, qualified for the final. Hoppel, placed third in his heat and luckily he ran fast to get the time qualifier. His time in the semifinal puts him at the fifth fastest out of all qualifiers. Hoppel will certainly be a contender in the final on Saturday.
The Race(s) of the Day
Today, there is once again two races of the day and those are the finals of the men’s and women’s 200m. The storyline for both races is pretty much the same, and that is if the American’s, Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles can complete the 100m-200m double. In the women’s 200m however, the storyline has some more depth. Sha’Carri has some competition, and that competition is Shericka Jackson, the reigning champion. Both races will be entertaining and ones you need to watch.
Athletes To Watch For Today
Leo Neugebauer
Leo Neugebauer was the NCAA champion in the Decathlon earlier this summer, and today he will be competing in the first event of the Decathlon, the 100m. Neugebauer represents the nation of Germany, and will be competing against the likes of Damien Warner, the reigning Olympic champion and the reigning NCAA indoor heptathlon champion, Kyle Garland. Neugebauer will have a good chance at podiuming in this year’s championships and he is an athlete you need to watch for.
Noah Lyles
Today, the 100m champion, Noah Lyles will attempt to complete the 100m-200m double, and he’s looking like he can certainly do it. Noah had the fastest semifinal time running 19.76 and winning his heat with ease. Alongside Lyles, Kenny Bednarek and Erriyon Knighton who are both Americans will be joining Noah in the final and there might be a USA sweep. Lyles is an incredible athlete and an exciting one for you to watch.
Sha’Carri Richardson
Like Noah, Sha’Carri Richardson, today will try to win the 100m-200m double. In her heat, Richardson finished in second behind Shericka Jackson, the reigning champion. Richardson’s semifinal time put her as the 4th fastest qualifier in the competition. Richardson won’t only have to go against Shericka in the final, but fellow American Gabby Thomas as well. Richardson is an exciting athlete and one you should watch for.
